Maggee hoeing carrots.

Vanessa planting some Gladiolas with winter squash in the fore ground.

Potatoes in flower, so far so good.

We grow Asiatic Lilies in crates in the greenhouse throughout the season. We potted up the second to last round, which will bloom in September. It’s really hard to believe but in another week or so we’ll be doing all the fall vegetables sowings?! We’re just getting going, and already we have to start thinking about fall.

Rain, Rain. So this week, it’s been a bit rainy so far. We still managed to get quite a bit done on Monday. The tomatoes were strung up in the field for the first time, giving them support as they grow taller. We got caught up on sowings in the greenhouse with the help of some working members. We got the last of the over-wintering onions up and into the barn.

Sami is away this week, visiting family in Maryland, so we’re mostly just trying to get everything harvested for the CSA and markets. If we get more than that done we’ll feel pretty good about ourselves.

You’ll notice that there aren’t any strawberries in your boxes this week. They are about played out. We’ll have a few for sale at the market, but that’s about it for the season. Not the best year for strawberries. The ones we had were great, there just weren’t many of them. But we’ve eaten a handful of blueberries! They are most definitely ripening. Look for them at market next week?

Please return your CSA box next week. These boxes are waxed and are not recyclable, but we reuse them. So PLEASE remember to bring them back next week.
