Newly planted summer squash bed on bio-degradeable “plastic”

Sugar snaps are looking great!

Progress is being made out here. We’re working to plant the warm weather crops this week: tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, more summer squash and cucumbers. We’ve planted broccoli, cabbages, sweet corn, sunflowers, lettuce mix, bok choi, and kohlrabi. We’ve sown carrots, beets, soybeans, and snap beans. Sowing winter squash is also on the to-so list for this week. We’ve had some great extra help from worker members over the past week, and our crew has been working really hard getting us close to caught up.

We have found that some of our worries have come true, in that this week’s box is not as full as we would have liked it to be. But it’s what is available and we’re doing our best with the conditions spring has brought us. We do feel that the plants are growing better than they were the past few weeks, and there are some exciting things that are getting close: sugar snap peas, kohlrabi, and even summer squash!

Please return your CSA box next week. These boxes are waxed and are not recyclable, but we reuse them. So PLEASE remember to bring them back next week.
