WHAT’S IN THE BOX? Enhance the CSA experience
with Mark Rosenstein
Spring 2011
Offered every other week, beginning in May, ending in September – What’s In The Box will offer a 1 ½ hour cooking class demonstrating how to use the weekly, seasonal CSA box. The class will follow the seasonal garden, teach fresh preparation as well as how to preserve and conserve.
Each class will provide a weekly “roadmap” on planning a week’s menu. Based on seasonal availability, the classes will also focus the many ways to use a specific ingredient – for example: arugula in the spring or fall, tomatoes late summer or the hard squashes in the fall.
Class will meet either Wednesday afternoons from 4:30 to 6:00 pm or Saturday mornings from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. The classes will be limited to 15 students per class and offered exclusively to CSA members.
In total, there are twenty sessions planned and I am recommending that each student sign up for a four-class series, coming four out of the five months the classes are offered. Class preference will be on a first-come basis and students signing up for the four class series will have schedule priority.
Price for a four-class series is $100. Price per individual classes is $30. Price includes all printed materials and a tasting of the days recipes.
